I have had several jobs.  I never lasted very long at any of my jobs.  The reason for this is because I would miss my kids and they would miss me.  I have worked as a lab assistant in a computer lab, a carhop at Sonic, a loan collector, and a child care provider.   Every time I worked I could not wait to get home to my children.  My husband would also call me about five times a day wondering when I was coming home.  So even though I have a college degree I am a stay at home mom right now.  I would have to say that being a mom is my favorite job.  I know it’s not really a job and you don’t get paid for it but, you do work and you get benefits.

The importance of fire extinguishers can never be undermined, under any circumstances. With so many couples going out to work these days, there are either only people or kids left at home, to take care of themselves. During such times, if there is any fire mishap at home, the people at home should be in a position to douse the fire. Hence installation of one or two water fire extinguishers for home becomes vital at home too. According to me, all residents should be trained in the handling of these devices so that they can face any kind of fire breakouts easily, whenever they happen.

I enjoy traveling.  Going out of town, being on the road, staying at hotels, and seeing new things, is what I consider fun.  Anytime we have some money saved up we travel.  We go on a summer vacation every year.  The vacations are not only fun but also a good way to bond with your family.  During the year ours schedules are so full we don’t get much time to just enjoy each other’s company.  When we are on the road or at a hotel we get to have time to talk.   Another thing I enjoying doing with my family is watching movies.  We go to the theater when there is a movie we can’t wait to watch.  We also rent movies about three times a month.  We will have a movie night at home where we eat junk food, snacks, and drink soda.  It is not a healthy tradition so we don’t always have the junk food but we will order pizza or Chinese.

Last night I made beef stir fry with vegetables.  Along with the stir fry I also made fried rice, and egg rolls.  To be honest I did not actually make the egg rolls, I bought some from the freezer section at the grocery store and put them in the microwave.  It is a simple meal to make that my family actually likes and will eat with no arguments.  I believe I have the pickiest kids when it comes to eating.  My two oldest are the worst, they always got to complain about something. My youngest is actually good, she eats almost anything, and hopefully this does not change.   I’m not the best cook so maybe I can’t blame them.  I think we go out to eat more often than we eat at home.  We go out a lot not just because of my cooking but also because we have a busy schedule and eating out saves time.

I find it hard to talk about myself sometime because it seems when I think about myself all I can think of is my family.  I became a mom at sixteen and since then it has not been about me.  I now have three kids and a wonderful husband.  I think I define myself more through them than anything else.  What I do know for sure about myself is I love my family and they are everything to me.  I live each day for them, to be there for them, to help them, to cook, clean, and love them.  I take the kids to practice for sports or go to games almost every week.  On my spare time, when I do get a moment for myself, I read.

This weekend I went to watch my niece play for her high school volleyball team.  The team had a tournament that consisted of playing two different teams and whoever won three out of five would be the winners.  My husband and our three children also went.  It was held at a local private school, which was a good thing since they have a nice gym.  The bad thing about the whole experience was that my niece did not get to play even once.  My niece is a very good player so it was not only frustration but also heart breaking to see her be hurt.  She was the only team member that got no play time.   She still cheered her team on, this is one girl with a lot of heart.

I like gardening very much.  But after my school days I never got the opportunity to work in a garden for long.  I had pot plants but it was never enough to satisfy my desire to have a nice garden.  Luckily the school where I am working now has the concept of “Land Child” for the children of the age group 12 to 18 years.  They are supposed to work in the field.   I am in charge of the gardening work.  We planned to have a kitchen garden, an orchard and avenue trees in the area of land allotted to us. And we work there everyday for one hour in the morning.  Now we are able to get vegetables and fruits from our own garden.   It is very refreshing and also satisfactory.  We all feel happy to contribute something to the earth we live in.

I live in Erode, a town in Tamil Nadu, in India.  It is a medium sized town.  It is very hot and I used to feel the weather condition never changes here. There isn’t much rain here and so it is always hot.  Actually I was born and brought up in a hill station named Ooty, which is 200 kilometers away from this town.  I used to enjoy the cool climate there.  But somehow I started liking this town.  Though it is not very big it has got all the facilities in it.  It is famous for turmeric and cotton clothes.

Today I wore Salwar, which happens to be the traditional wear of North India.  Though I live in south India, I prefer to wear this as it is convenient to work in the fields with it.   It is a designer salwar of silk.  It has a blue tops with works on it and a multicolor salwar.  The shawl which is worn around the neck is usually called as Dhuppatta and it was the same design as the salwar but of a soft material.  This particular dress was presented to me by my husband on my birthday.  So I love wearing this.

I had never known about the importance of fire extinguishers until I met the father of one of my friends. He knew all about fires and when I said proudly that I owned a fire extinguisher; he promptly asked me when the last time I had serviced it was. Perplexed, I said never! Imagine my surprise when I found out how dangerous it is to have a subserviced small wet chemical fire extinguisher in your house. Not only is there the potential of it not working if and when a fire occurs, but there is also the chance that the gases become poisonous! He really enlightened me and since then I have kept my fire extinguisher serviced.
