As a child, I always enjoyed reading tales of pirates and the treasures they sought.  I dreamed of one day finding a treasure map which would lead me to riches beyond my wildest imagination.  This summer I was introduced to a hobby which allowed me to recapture some of my childhood dreams.  The activity is called letterboxing.  One person carves a rubber stamp and hides it in a clever location.  Then, the individual posts clues on the internet about how to find the hidden box.  The finder must then decipher the clues and when they find the stamp, the finder uses a inkpad to make an impression of the stamp in his/her own log book.  I have found this activity to lead me on hikes in beautiful locations that I would never have visited, and has given me the opportunity to truly find hidden treasures.
